The Red Grass was an early (1950s?) black-and-white TV children's science fiction series about an (extra terrestrial or terrrestrial experiment out of control?) waving red grass that seeds itself all over the world and is fatal to the touch.

A group of ordinary young prople with no special expertise or knowledge struggle to understand the Red Grass, where it came from, what its purpose is on Earth (apart from its obvious intention to colonizing it and killing all other life forms) and how to combat its spread and wipe it out before it kills the last human beings to survive.

It waa a tense and exciting drame with all the best elements of science fiction of this era.

There appears to be no reference to The Red Grass anywhere on the Internet and there does not appear to be any currently published information about the series or about whether any footage, written material or oral evidence survives.

Currently identified ( and as yet unattained) goals:

To establish whether the series was produced by BBC, ITV or an ITV regional company (like ATV)

To establish year(s) and dates of broadcast

To determine how many episodes/series there were and whether the story was brought to a conclusion

To trace written material - scripts, production schedules/notes/storyboards

To trace any surviving fooatge of episodes and series, screen tests, abandoned footate, unbroadccast material

To find out whether any information exists on cmmissioning, writers, cast and crew

To trace records of the programme's reception - audience figures, press cuttings, any media coverage

To trace any surviving people who were involved in the creation, poduction, acting, screening and evaluating of the series

If the series was made for independent television, to trace sponsors/advertisers involved in the series

To trace any current knowledge base, references (written, kept on film or oral memories), individual or group recall and/or viewers of the series.

To determine what prospects exist for restoring and reissuing any remaining footage and whether there is any demand
