The Headmaster is a book by John McPhee profiling Frank Boyden, the headmaster of Deerfield Academy, which grew out of a New Yorker magazine profile.


The Headmaster was a TV series in 1970 and 1971.

Andy Thompson was the sensitive and warm headmaster of Concord, a small but elite private school located in California. The series detailed his personal and professional relationships with his students and staff, including his wife Margaret (the English teacher), pal Jerry (gym coach) and Mr. Purdy (janitor).
