Abbottabad is a district in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan, that contains the cities of Abbottabad and Havelian.

Origin of name

Abbottabad is named after Major James Abbott, an administrator of Hazara, a region that contained this district.

Subdivisions

The district has only one Tehsil, Abbottabad. It has two Municipalities, Abbottabad and Havelian, and one Town, Nawanshehr. There are fifty-seven Union Councils in the district. These are:
