Mike Ramsey was on the 1979 NCAA U of MN Championship team
Mike Ramsey was on the 1979 NCAA U of MN Championship team. This is an important fact and not even mentioned in his bio. From my recollection, Mike Ramsey played a regular shift, rotating with one other defense pair, which included Bill Baker. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.46.194.82 (talk) 18:41, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Check Britannica bibliographic reference for Henry Longueville Mansel
In the entry on Mansel, it's stated that he contributed the article "Metaphysics" to the 5th edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica in 1860. But the 5th edition of the EB was published much earlier. I hope that someone can check into this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jro571 (talk • contribs) 03:26, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

MOS discussion regarding Lady Gaga's name
There is a discussion occurring here as to whether the precedent of shortening Lady Gaga's name down to just "Gaga" violates WP:MOS. All users are welcome to contribute. WossOccurring (talk) 20:22, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
The article should focus or at least start with his seminal contributions in neurology/neuroscience. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Universewik (talk • contribs) 22:21, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
Tagging for WP Death
And finding a range of death categories that have mysteriously had biography added by a now blocked user - as at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_talk:Cardiovascular_disease_deaths_by_country - anyone object if I remove the Biography tag at 'death' items - they do not seem appropriate in the way that I understand tagging. Any feedback appreciated
NOT to be confused with my tagging XXXX deaths - example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_talk:2002_deaths - which I can see the viability of the mix of biography and death templates at those categories SatuSuro 07:39, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- I am not sure that I understand the problem or the difference that makes one category within the project scope and the other outside of it. Could you please expand your reasoning? Road Wizard (talk) 02:10, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about delay in response:- The blocked user had added biography tags on various disease death categories - but only a few - whether by extension - is it then that all death categories then follow as potential biography items as well? But if the death project now exists - is that sufficient to have Death tags rather than biography?
The second item is the year death categories seem to have death and biography - and it seems to make sense Hope that might explain it SatuSuro 01:13, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- I would say that any category intended to include biographies would fall within the Biography project. Where the two projects overlap it is likely that you will see duplicated tags; however the Biography project wouldn't normally stray into the articles on death processes (brain death, decomposition) or death customs (funerals, cremations) so only the Death tag would be seen there. Ajay Rochester
Fraud charges additions that need to be added
On Jan 13th Ajay 2009 Rochester attended court and fought the charges. The case carried over a day as the Magistrate found that Centrelink had "conveniently" not bought files supporting Rocheter's claim that she had contacted Centrelink herself to alert them of the overpayments that had been made to her. Their records only dated to the day before Rochester's claim of contact. When order to go back to their offices and return with the files it was shown that Rochester had as per her testimony made contact with Centrelink to alert them of the over payments and that she had assisted them on many levels all of which Centrelink omitted from their body of "evidence" when chasing a very public conviction. The case was held over to Jan 14th when Justice O'Shane summed up with a lengthy recourse to Centrelink saying Rochester was no doubt of good character and made inferences to the method and intention of Centrelink in taking so many years to bring a case (the overpayments were years before Rochester become a household name)that would "under normal circumstances" not make it into court had the person NOT been in the media. Justice O'Shane's judgement was a section 19B - NO conviction recorded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mandybruceajr (talk • contribs) 09:06, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Rondo Hatton also appeared in the film, "Mighty Joe Young" as a wrestler named The Swedish Angel, who played tug of war with Mighty Joe Young. This often had me confused because there was a real "Swedish Angel" who wrestled. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.55.67.172 (talk) 00:31, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
trying to be fair
I took it upon myself to research and rewrite the entire bio because of the contention surrounding it. I am a law student on semester break and working on my research and writing skills, that is why the page is footnoted like an academic paper. I am not affiliated with any of the parties to the dispute and did this as semester break work project to keep my academic mindset going (I am also reading "the Nine" by Jeffery Toobin).
Further, my professors have said I need to work on my research and writing skills. I am from the area and recall a lot of the news surrounding the topic. I have also edited on Wiki in the past on topics like "Brown v. Board of Education" and other constitutional law issues, as these are areas of interest and limited expertise for me. Those edits though were done anonymously. I didn't think something like a minor edit (the number and names of the other cases bundled with Brown when it went up for review by the Supreme Court in 1952-1955 needed I identify myself or "blow my own horn," but rewriting an entire topic I felt would need my establishing an account.
I would be willing to research and rewrite other topics if they are in areas of interest or expertise. I stumbled across this and read the discussion page a few weeks back and thought I might could help out. If my edits are not acceptable, I won't disrupt the forum further.
As it is professors are already starting to list in their syllabi that Wikipedia is not an acceptable source for academic papers and I am just trying to increase its reliability because as an older college student, I enjoy being able to do Internet research and not having to go to the library and etc. Wikipedia is a good idea in my mind. I encourage others to use it, but to look at the credibility of a piece based on its sources and its proper use of references.
Please advise, if my efforts aren't needed or appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RafterJ (talk • contribs) 00:29, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what bio it is to which you refer, but we are always happy to have editors who can write good bios with solid referencing. Wildhartlivie (talk) 00:57, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Biography
Anyone have an opinion as to whether a biography should have a header called "Biography" to separate the lede from the point where the chronology restarts with their birth. Is it standard for a biography? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 02:47, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- It would probably be adequate in the early stages of an article but it is far from ideal. Normal practice is to have something like "Early life", "Education" or "Early career" as the first section followed by other sections split by topic. Road Wizard (talk) 02:56, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- What the wizard said - it's all a biography, isn't it? -Duribald (talk) 03:34, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Can someone take a look at the history of this biography? It seems a right mess. I don't have any books on me at the moment so I'm not sure if the footballer, the composer that was previously written about, or both are a hoax, although I don't remember a player by this name ever playing for Watford. Note also that if it is genuine, the original contributor clearly has a COI. Thanks in advance, WFCforLife (talk) 08:21, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know about the football player but the composer seems genuine. However the article appears to be a direct translation of the composer's biography on an Italian website. I have flagged it for consideration as a possible copyright violation (I would have flagged it for speedy deletion but am unsure whether the act of translation voids the copyright). Road Wizard (talk) 00:23, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- No, translation doesn't void copyright (translations can themselves be copyrighted). Fences&Windows 23:05, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Don Watt's Obituary
I was interested to read Wiki's version of Don Watt's life and compare it to the Toronto Stars Obit as below especially of interest is the comment about the Canadian flag
In Wki under Don Watt there is no mention of it and it is credited to George Stanley any comments anyone ?? Timbitts3 (talk) 20:52, 6 January 2010 (UTC) Tim Bayley

I have created the article Carl Warburg. I am a fairly new editor on Wikipedia. I have made a start on content. Any help in additional content, or advice/feedback/suggestions on the article, would be welcome. Thanks--Roland Sparkes (talk) 02:15, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
I have a question about false negative content on a biography page - is it OK to delete it? There are no articles supporting the content.
The page in question is the biography of Carol Stephenson

Kathryn Leigh Scott
The article on Kathryn Leigh Scott states that she was born Marlene Kringstad on January 26, 1943. I was wondering what the source material for this was. I have never seen it stated anywhere that her given name is Marlene.
Two of the sources cited in the article, Memory Alpha and IMDB.com bith giver date of birth as January 26, 1945. However, in her book My Scrapbook Memories of Dark Shadows, Ms. Scotty tells of the time that she wanted to join Fidel Castro's revolution when she was 16. That would inidcate that 1943 is the correct date of birth.
