Georgi Kakalov (Template:Lang-bg) (born 18 July 1984) is a football midfielder/striker from Bulgaria currently playing for Cherno More Varna.

Talented but bad-tempered player, permanently involved in scandals whether on the field, or off it. Kakalov, rather looking like a rock-star, long-haired, often loses his nerves in the ground as shows real "troglodyte" manners, cursing his rivals, spitting at them and punching them.

Due to the five red cards in row he got within just the semi-season 2006–07 Kakalov became the first player in the football history of Bulgaria who got a personal therapist attached to him by PFC Botev officials for helping Kakalov to resolve his problems with aggression.

Career

Kakalov started his career in home town Plovdiv, playing for the local team of Maritsa. 18-years old is gone to Litex, signing for fee of € 200,000. For two years in there, however, he played only three games. In season 2003–04 Georgi is loaned to PFC Vidima-Rakovski, then to Belite orli. Between January 2005 and June 2005 Kakalov played for Spartak Pleven. Since the start of season 2005–06 he has been playing for Botev Plovdiv. He was bought by Belarusian side FC Dinamo Minsk at the 2008's transfer summer for fee of € 250,000. On 9 January 2009 he signed with Cherno More Varna. He has been given the kit number 11.

International career

Kakalov made his debut for Bulgaria national football team on 26 March 2008 against Finland.
