The Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, United States. The program competes in the Big East Conference of NCAA Division I. The school holds two national championships in basketball. They were named the 1927 (with a record of 19-1) and 1936 (with a record of 22-2-1) national champions by the Helms Foundation.[1] They have also played in the NCAA Tournament 29 times, good for 9th all time,[2] and reached the Final Four in 1978. They play their home games in the Edmund P. Joyce Center. They are also the first Big East team to go undefeated at home two straight seasons. [3] The Fighting Irish are currently coached by Mike Brey.
