Creola is a town located in Mobile County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 2,002.

Creola is located at 30°53'44" North, 88°0'53" West (30.895465, -88.014760)Template:GR.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 40.1 km² (15.5 mi²). 37.8 km² (14.6 mi²) of it is land and 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.62% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,002 people, 718 households, and 567 families residing in the town. The population density is 52.9/km² (137.1/mi²). There are 796 housing units at an average density of 21.0/km² (54.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 86.36% White, 9.89% Black or African American, 1.45% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.35% from other races, and 1.85% from two or more races. 0.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 718 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% are married couples living together, 14.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.9% are non-families. 17.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.15.

In the town the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $35,517, and the median income for a family is $38,942. Males have a median income of $35,658 versus $19,911 for females. The per capita income for the town is $14,956. 16.0% of the population and 14.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 18.5% of those under the age of 18 and 19.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
