Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc. (ATN) (Nasdaq: ATNI) is a publicly traded telecommunications company that is headquartered in Salem, Massachusetts. It operates digital wireless, wireline, and both terrestrial and submarine fiber optic networks, serving markets that are geographically separated and technically challenging - ranging from the plains of the Midwest, the deserts of the Southwest and the Northwoods of New York and New England, to rainforests near the equator in South America and the tropical islands in the Caribbean.

ATN’s expertise is operating in underserved or niche markets, growing its business organically and through acquisitions by:

ATN operates through five subsidiary companies: Commnet (US), GT&T (Guyana), Sovernet (US), Bermuda Digital Cummunications (Bermuda/T&T), and Choice (US Virgin Islands).

On June 9, 2009, ATN announced a definitive agreement to acquire certain wireless assets that Verizon Wireless is required to divest as part of the regulatory approvals granted for its purchase of Alltel earlier this year. Under the terms of the agreement, ATN will acquire wireless properties, including wireless spectrum licenses and network assets, serving over 800,000 subscribers primarily in rural areas across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Ohio, and Idaho. ATN expects to close the transaction in the third or fourth quarter of 2009 subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including the receipt of required consents and approvals from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
