David Allstot was born January 22, 1947 in Brookings, South Dakota. He is currently a professor at the University of Washington College of Engineering in the Electrical Engineering, specializing in VLSI and Digital Systems.

Allstot was previously a member of the faculty at the University of Texas at Dallas.
