Kites is a forthcoming Bollywood film to be directed by Anurag Basu, and produced by Rakesh Roshan that will star Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori, Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi[1] and Luce Rains. The film is reportedly a high budget movie and has world rights valued at $25 million.[2]. The film is slated for release on May 21, 2010.[3]
Plot
Kites is about an Indian boy’s romantic affair with a Latina girl and their predicament as they do not understand each other’s language. Hrithik Roshan plays a salsa teacher. Kangana Ranaut plays a very rich girl and is shown as Hrithik’s dance student. The story is set in Las Vegas. In the course of learning Salsa from him, she falls madly in love with him. But then a twist in the tale takes place and the romantic story takes a thriller turn. Barbara Mori plays a Latina who speaks only Spanish which Hrithik can’t speak a word of. So he speaks to her in Hindi and yet the two communicate and fall madly in love. But then something happens that forces the two to split and that’s where Kangana Ranaut steps in.
In the harsh terrain of the Mexican desert, a mortally wounded man is left for death in the heat of the desert sun. This is Jai (Hrithik Roshan) - once a street smart, carefree, young guy and now a wanted man.
The only thing that keeps him alive is the quest to find the love of his life, Natasha (Barbara Mori). A woman, engaged to another man, but surely destined for Jai. A woman, who comes into his life like a bolt of lightning, and changes it forever.
Kites is a story of love that goes beyond barriers, boundaries and cultures. It is a story of passion that defies every rule, of a relationship that takes two lovers on a thrilling journey filled with precious moments and unexpected betrayal.

Release and Production
The distribution rights of Kites have been sold to Reliance Big Pictures for a large amount of Rs 150 crores. It is a record till date for Bollywood.[4] The film is slated for a May 21, 2010 release along with another big film Rajneeti
The production in the United States was handled by Bollywood Hollywood Productions and Line Producer Prashant Shah[5]. It is reported that the film is in talks with several Hollywood studios to secure worldwide distribution.
The official theatrical trailer was released online on February 3, 2010.
