Copperton is a township in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. Located southwest of West Jordan and about 17 miles from Salt Lake City, Copperton lies at the mouth of Bingham Canyon.

History

Copperton was established in 1926, by the Utah Copper Company as a residential area for its employees. Today it is home to approximately 800 residents and is the only mining town remaining for the Bingham Canyon Mine after Lark was torn down in 1980. Currently, however, only a handful of residents work for the mine. The town's history is directly linked to the mine. A very tight-knit community, Copperton is rich in tradition and residents love their secluded location.
