Liberty Christian Academy was founded by Jerry Falwell in 1967 as Lynchburg Christian Academy, and was developed as a ministry of Thomas Road Baptist Church. LCA is a recognized education facility from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Association of Christian Schools International. Today it is the largest Christian Evangelical University in the world.

LCA's home for the past 38 years was on the Thomas Road Baptist Church location but has been moved just off the Liberty University Campus, and was renamed to Liberty Christian Academy.
