P.K. Chathan Master (1920—1988) is a former Minister of Kerala State.

Biography

P.K. Chathan was born to Shri. Kavalan in Irinjalakuda. He passed his S.S.L.C. and went to college, but did not graduate. He was a primary school teacher for some time, earning him the sobriquet "Master". He was from a young age active in political movements, serving as a harijan leader before becoming a member of the Communist Party of India in 1948. In 1957 he became the Harijan Welfare Minister in the E.M.S. Namboothiripad Ministry. He was later elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Kilimanoor Constituency in 1970, retaining his seat at the 1977 General Elections. He died on April 22, 1988.
