The Institute of Engineering and Technology Lucknow (IET ) is a state government-funded engineering college in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India.
History
The IET was established by the Government of U.P in 1984, for imparting engineering education and for promoting technological research to generate suitable technical manpower. The institute is fully financed by Uttar Pradesh Government and is being administered by the IET Society (registered under the Societies Act 1860) through its Board of Governors.
The institute is fully residential.The institute was formerly affiliated to the University of Lucknow, but since 2000 it is affiliated with Uttar Pradesh Technical University and recognised by AICTE.The institute is now constituent college of Uttar Pradesh Technical University since 2008 .
The IET Lucknow, started in November 1984, constituted the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Lucknow University. Initially, it offered B.Tech degree in three branches, namely Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics. Within a year, two more branches i.e. Civil and Mechanical were introduced. The Campus of institute was constructed by Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd. (UPRNN) on an 100 acre plot purchased from Lucknow Development Authority against a sum of Rs. 2.40 crores. Inspite of initial difficulties, UPRNN constructed substation, Academic Block, two boys’ hostels, one girls’ hostel and nearly 70 residences. LDA provided its support for construction of external roads, electric supply, drainage and sewage, etc.
IET fulfilled the long felt need of an Engineering College at Lucknow. It was the first state government Engineering College to start its classes in its own campus from the beginning itself.
The founder Director, Prof. Suresh Chandra, joined on 26th June 1984 and the teaching faculty joined their posts from 11th October 1984 onwards. The Director, IET Lucknow, also assumed the office of Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow University on 25th April, 1985.
Hostels
The Institute has hostel facilities for boys and girls separately. There are six boys' and two girls' hostels . They accommodate around 1500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Committees consisting of elected student representatives manage them. All the hostels are located on the campus. The hostel rooms are spacious and well-furnished. Each hostel has its own mess. The hostel mess is operated by elected student representative. Spacious and modern kitchens with steam cooking cater to healthy and nutritious food. Strict hygienic conditions are maintained. Each hostel is provided with a television, telephone, water-purifier, water-cooler and kit for indoor games and outdoor games. The hostels, also include a shop within its boundary for basic amenities. The hostel residents are expected to adhere to a set of hostel rules and regulations. Hostes are know as blocks A,B,C,D,E,Gargi Bhavan,New Girls Hostels.

Culture & Fest
Encore is the annual fest of Institute of Engineering and Technology.This includes both technical as well as cultural fest.It has got plethora of events necessary for the overall development of students.In these events many students come to participate from other colleges of country to show their mettle and set a benchmark.

The Institute has its own placement cell which is currently headed by D.S. Yadav.

It is situated at Sitapur Road, its location well known in Lucknow as Engineering College Chauraha.
Alumni
IET Lucknow Alumni Association was officially registered on 25th May 2009. The association had its first General Body Meeting on 31st May 2009 at Scientific Converntion Center, KGMU, Lucknow. The first General body meeting was a landmark in the history of IET and was the most successful alumni meet organized ever. High number of alumni joined Alumni meet from UK and USA.
