Sid Meier's Civilization V (also known as Civilization 5) is an upcoming turn-based strategy video game by Firaxis. It is the latest game in the Civilization series, due for release in the last quarter of 2010[2]. In Civilization V the player leads a civilization from the prehistoric times into the future.

Compared to the earlier versions of the series, Civilization V will feature a new combat system, hexagonal rather than square tiles, a new engine, and full-screen diplomacy. It will also contain community, modding and multiplayer elements. Among smaller changes, the game adds the ability for siege weapons to bombard cities from more than one tile away. [3] Unlike Civilization IV, Civilization V will not have religion or espionage, and will not allow more than one military unit per tile.[4]

Civilizations and leaders

It has been confirmed there will be eighteen civilizations available from the start. Civilization V will also be the first incarnation of the series where the leaders speak their native language.[3] So far thirteen of the leaders have been revealed and they are summarized in the following table.
