Online

Is this game online or is it just for people who are near you? • Thorpe • 23:13, 23 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This game is online. It will allow you to communicate and visit other players town from anywhere in the world. I think! <Nikachus01> — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nikachus01 (talkcontribs) 05:06, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This is true. Nintendo has stated AC DS will utilize a friends list of sorts, and you can also blacklist people from your village, if they try to do things like chop down trees. Other people can be invited to your village, and kicked out as well (speculative feature). Plus, no one who is not a native of a village can't enter it if no other natives are online (and in the said village). --gakon5 (talk) 22:17, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

Name change

Here's an IGN article on the new name: [1] Thunderbrand 22:08, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

Do you really think you should have changed this? There's nothing on Nintendo's website that says anything about the change. In fact Nintendo has it listed as Animal Crossing DS. Squid Vicious
Nintendo has revealed that the upcoming Nintendo DS version of Animal Crossing has received a new title. The game will henceforth be known as Animal Crossing: Wild World.
They probably haven't gotten around to changing it on their site yet. Thunderbrand 01:16, September 9, 2005 (UTC)

Life in AC:WW

If we are all buying the game, we should exchange friend codes. As soon as i get it I'll post my friend code. --Mattmagician — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattmagician (talkcontribs) 15:00, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Hawk?

Tony Hawk's American Sk8land wasn't developed by Nintendo. I think it's fair to remove this from the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manmonk (talkcontribs) 00:01, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

EU Release Date

I've changed the european release date for the game. I got it from here[2] so it should be right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Orzolek (talkcontribs)

ABOUT JINGLE: I know he will not be in

there was an article about all the holidays being taken out escept for new years, ass it is not controversal. Theyu want animal crossing to be a INTERNATIONAL game, so not offensive to anyone.

jingle was the part of Sant in the game, so he will be taken out, as will Franklin the turkey, Jack o'lantern, etc.

Thank you, I hope that helped some tiny bit. ;-)

Message ina bottle>>>

Umm, not sure if it appears anywhere in the world, I think its just in your general area, like in nintendogs having Bark Mode, okay> Its in the official nintendo guide, but I dont own the game, so I wouldnt know... --Aeryka 02:59, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How Do Letters work?

i'm a little confused by the Current Information on this page, and am curious how letters actually work:

  1. Players may only visit another player's town if he or she is online.
  2. Players may send letters and items to friends via Nintendo WFC, regardless of their online status. To do this, the player sending the mail must be in the letter recipient's town.

does this mean only a player who is online can visit other people's towns, but if that player is online they can visit the town of an offline player and leave them a letter? thanks for any clarification =) and i will post my friends code when i have the game ... Starpause 03:40, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As I understand it, you can visit someone if both are online, and both have exchanged friend codes. If the other is not online, but you have his friend code, you would "reach" the gates only, where you could leave a message. If the other is online, he would get a notification, and would be able to either accept or ignore the request. I would think the "offline" messages would be stored in Nintendo Wi-Fi network until the other connects, just like ICQ. Of course, this is what I understand from the article. -- ReyBrujo 04:27, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
According to the IGN review [3]: Players can only send mail to other players by visiting their village and mailing it to them from that player's local post office. So, it seems there is no offline messaging system. -- ReyBrujo 04:57, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I own the game and can confirm that thier is no offline measeging service. -Deathawk 17:14, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The closest thing to that is the Message in a Bottle, which will randomly appear on the beach of a random person's town. There's no way to pick who you're sending the bottle to, I've even gotten my own bottle back on one occasion. Phred Levi 09:47, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ratings

I added worldwide ratings, because having the release dates in four countries and the ratings in just one seemed lacking.

Please say is http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Animal_Crossing:_Wild_World&oldid=34541817 should be the current artical with the links. --Actown e 04:26, 13 January 2006 (UTC) (forgot sig)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a link repository. One of the fan sites could stay, the one with the highest Alexa ranking and that does not need Flash, Java or any other plugin, per WP:EL. -- ReyBrujo 02:33, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but alexa rankings don't judge how good a site is, just how many people go there. How about one site that's the best for one thing, so there are multiple fansite resources, each one good with one thing, which would be an improvement upon that system, which has slip-ups, like Project Hyrule was the first site to crack the code for the AC for GCN tom nook code system, and they have every code, but were rejected from the AC article due to 'a low alexa ranking'.68.107.17.239 23:57, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that you should exclude fansites altogether, especially since other wiki pages link to fansites. Many of the links are useful, such as Animal Crossing Ahead (for information), AC:WW Live (for friend finding) and a variety of the forums and communities that were (useful for organizing online trading in a moderated setting). What I do object to is people who are using Wikipedia to advertise their sites. These, I think, are obvious from the "THIS IS THE BIGGEST AC SITE ON THE NET" taglines. They may be relevant links, but presented in such a way that users are misled.67.165.2.106 03:10, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think the links should stay again. People come here and could be looking for another website or to try to find someone on wifi. EL are not spam. They are a way to let people find useful sites.--Actown e 04:35, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a link directory. One or two fan sites is enough, more not according to the guidelines. -- ReyBrujo 12:53, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So what do we keep? Axa and acwwlive or what? --Actown e 16:31, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The WP:EL does suggest fansites when they provide significant information not currently available on Wikipedia. Personally, I would review the fansites and see if any of them provide this information. Put some back, though. The current page is useful, but the game itself is very complex and there are other sites that are more thorough than Wiki at the moment.
