Writing and inspiration
On the surface ‘Never Leave You’ is about Tinchy telling a girl how he’s going to be with her forever, but beneath the surface its sentiments are directed towards his original fans, his East London roots and to grime music.[8] According to the producer Fraser T Smith, "it's a song about success and staying true to yourself."[8]
Promotion
Tinchy and Amelle performed the song together for the first time at BBC Sound, the song got great reception. The pair performed the song together on, T4 on the Beach in July 2009, on stage alone side many other artists, the song got a huge response bye the crowd. It was the first time Amelle Berrabah sang live, alone with out the Sugababes with her. In Agusut 2009 the pair were still promoting the song, still singing it on show like TMF Sessions, Live Lounge.
Tinchy performed the song himself at times, like he did at Ghana party in the park, at Lush! in Kellys Nightclub, Portrush, in October, which Amelle would have been busy with girl group Sugababes. The song began airing early July 2009, and a week after it was released, the song shot to the number one spot in the UK and the UK R&B single charts, it was Amelle first #1 hit as a solo artists, the song became Stryder's second number #1 hit.
The song was performed together at 95.8 Capital FM. Styder was seen performing the song may times himself, due to Amelle's commitment with the Sugababes. The pair performed the song at many different towns, promoting the song themselfs, on high streets, singing the song with just an Acoustic guitar. They sang the song at Party in the Park.
Critical reception
Rewind eight months and the name Tinchy Stryder would have been met with blank expressions by all but a core of grime fanatics in East London. Now, having bypassed the critics and trend-setters, the 22-year-old rapper has become one of the year's biggest success stories thanks to a winning combination of pop hooks and hip-hop rhymes. Building on the momentum of his recent chart-topper 'Number One', Stryder's back with summer smash-in-waiting 'Never Leave You'.
It finds him sticking to the Europoppy sound of his previous singles, but this time he's drafted in his starriest sparring partner yet - Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah. He powers through the verses in his distinctive London twang, she croons the glorious chorus, and Fraser T. Smith keeps the production as fresh and sharp as a grapefuit breakfast. Stryder may have started the year as the so-called "Prince of Grime", but... wait for it... he's fast establishing himself as the King of the Charts.[9] The song was gave 4 out of 5 stars .
Music video
The music video features Stryder in his Star in The Hood gear in a room and on a chair with bright lights behind him. There are also scenes of Berbarrah and Stryder singing together and Amelle in a white room. Styder and Amelle are seen together in the same room, but a wall going across, so they can not see each other. Then later the colour of the background lights change and they are pictured in X-Ray vision. There are a number of different scences in the video, Berbarrah and Stryder are seen wearing a number of different clothing.
There are many scences of Stryder and Amelle sitting on metal-like chairs. They are seen dancing, on the spot.
There are many scences, sexy sences where Amelle Berbarrah is seen rubbing herself up and down, from her neck, downwards.
On the end of the video, Stryder is sitting on the metal-like sofa, and Amelle is leaning onto the metal-like sofa, with her hand on her hip.
It was the first video to feature Amelle's new hair-cut.
