The April 2010 Sumatra earthquake was a 7.8 Mw earthquake[2] that occurred on April 7, 2010, at 5:15 AM local time (April 6, 2010, 22:15 UTC), off the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. A tsunami watch was issued according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu.[3] Power outages were reported thoughout the province of North Sumatra[4] as well as in Banda Aceh. No deaths have been reported so far. [5]
