INTEC Education College
International Education Centre (INTEC), Malaysia was established in 1982 under the name College of Preparatory Education (KPP). The institution is the place where students, mostly Malaysians, undergo specially prepared programmes before they further their studies overseas.
INTEC as one of the UiTM's learning centre
INTEC does not stand on its own. Instead, it is one of the learning centres in UiTM. Since it is in UiTM Section 17, Shah Alam, many people called it UiTM Section 17.
UiTM is known for their bumiputra-only admission policy. However, at INTEC, non-bumiputra sponsored students are also accepted as a UiTM student.
However, only Bumiputra students are accepted as private students here.
Programmes offered in INTEC
American Degree Foundation Program (ADFP) and American Credit Transfer Program (ACTP)
Prepare students to selected American universities.
ADFP program lasts about a 14 months. It consists of three semesters, including one short semester in summer. During the first semester, students are required to learn English about 20 hours per week in various aspects of English Language.

ACTP Programme
ACTP (American Credit Transfer Program) is a program designed by INTEC to meet JPA's requirement for its sponsored students to obtain their first year in Degree here in INTEC. As of November 2009, there are three ACTP batches already. They are known based on ACT- prefix such as ACT 1, ACT 2 and ACT 3. Credits for their subjects are transferable to most universities in the US.
Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT)
Introduction
The Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) Programme is a one-and-a-half-year package for selected students to further their studies in Australia and New Zealand. Courses are conducted based on the curriculum set by the Senior Secondary Assessment Board of South Australia (SSABSA), Adelaide. Students will acquire the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) which is recognized by all Australian and New Zealand universities. It is also accepted by universities in the United Kingdom and Canada.
The programme prepares students to major in Science (Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, etc) and Non-Science (Accountancy, Actuarial Science, Economics, Architecture, etc) courses.
Entry Requirements
For the general requirements, students applying for the programme must have a credit in Bahasa Malaysia and at least 3B in English at the SPM level.
Students must also obtain at least a 3B in any FOUR of the FIVE subjects listed below and a 4B in the remaining ONE subject:

Students must also be proficient in the English Language as the course will be conducted in English.

Russian Program (RP)
Introduction
Russian Program is introduced to prepare students to Russian universities mainly medical one after several universities in Russia has been recognized by Malaysian Medical Council and Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Russian Program lasts about a 2–8 months depending on month of intake (February or July intake). Students are required to pass the following subject during the course of studies:
- Russian Language (Main)

- Chemistry

- Physics
- Anatomy in Russian
- Islamic Studies
Russian Program is now coordinated by Mr. Yamin from 2005. Previously, it was headed by Miss Penelope Jayaram. Students in this program are composed of those selected from Excellent Students Scheme (Skim Pelajar Cemerlang) introduced by Majlis Amanah Rakyat and students with excellent SPM results selected by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA). Russian language in this program is taught by lecturers from Russia mainly from Voronezh, Volgograd and other cities of Russia, it is the main subjects of this course, requiring students to attend up to 25 hours of class per week.

After finishing the course, students are mainly sent to:

A-Level Medicine
Introduction
The A-Level Medicine programme prepares the selected students to pursue their studies in Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry abroad. These students will follow a two-year programme in INTEC. This programme is set up specifically to train and guide students effectively so that they can attain at least 12 points (the equivalent of three B-grades)in their A-level examinations to help students to get placements in selected universities. Most of the students here composed of PSD (Public Service Department) scholars. The programme is now headed by Puan Rita Rohaizah Sohari.[1]
Requirements to university entry
Students have to sit for GCE Advanced Level Examinations which is administered by Edexcel International, the largest A-Level provider in the United Kingdom and the world. Among the subjects taken by these students are Biology(Human), Chemistry, and Mathematics(Core mathematics and Statistics S1&S2). To pursue their studies, they have to achieve 12 points and above for their three A-level subjects which is required by their sponsors. Those students who are going to study in Ireland require to take Physics instead of Mathematics. Furthermore, Malaysian students should choose either Islamic studies or Ethical studies which is required under the MARA University of Technology. During the two-year programme, sponsored students have to attend a one week course organised by National Civics Bureau (Biro Tatanegara in Malay) which is under the Prime Minister's Department.
Besides, students have to sit for IELTS (International English Language Testing system) and achieve a minimum band score of 6.5 and above. IMU (International Medical University) bound students have to pass MUET (Malaysian University English Test) with a score of band 4 and IELTS with a minimum overall band score of 7.0 starting from the year 2010. However, certain medical universities may require their students to undertake an interview before entering the universities.
Routes after INTEC
Students under this programme can be divided in two main groups, namely direct or twining programmes. Twining programmes can be further divided into three main groups:
- Students who are bound to PMC (Penang Medical College). This institution twins with universities abroad such as UCD(University College of Dublin), Ireland and RCSI(Royal College of Surgeons Ireland). These students will do their final year in PMC.
- Students who are bound to IMU (International Medical University). This institution twins to its partner medical schools in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States,and Canada. These students will do their final year in their respective partner medical schools.
- Students who are bound to MMMC (Melaka Manipal Medical College).This institution twins to universities in Manipal, state of Karnataka, India such as Manipal University and Kasturba Medical College. These students will do their final year in MMMC.
The above three groups of students will pursue their medical studies for 2.5 years in foreign countries and another 2.5 years in Malaysia.
For students of direct programme, they will proceed either to United Kingdom or Ireland after completing their A-levels at INTEC. Other possible destinations are the Czech Republic, India, and Indonesia. The students spend about 1.5 years in INTEC and 4 to 5 years abroad.

Look East Policy Program
The Look East Policy program consists of The Japanese Prgoramme and the Korean Technical Programme.
Middle East programme (MEP) theplacement of students under this programme include in Egypt and Jordan. This is the only programme that their students are all Muslims.This short course programme only take for about 3 month [usually starting from end-mei to early-September].

ATUSA stands for American Top Universities Students' Association. It is among the largest society in INTEC because of its huge number of members (more than 300).
