This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Tetraminoe (talk | contribs) at 10:14, 17 January 2006 (Festivals: + Guavaween). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This page is a list of images wanted for articles by WikiProject Florida.

Notes

To request an image

  1. Add it to this list.
    1. Add your request under the appropriate heading:
      • Articles which lack an image should be listed under #Articles that need images. This can be used even if the article already has one or more images, but lacks a certain image or type of image. For instance, an article about a city may have a map of the city's location, but no photographs of the city.
      • Articles which have an image of poor quality -- that needs to be resized, touched up, or replaced -- should be listed under #Articles that need better images.
    2. Include the date you requested the image, to make it easier for others to find old or new requests.
    3. If applicable, include the specific image or type of image requested, or what improvements should be made. (e.g. "photograph of beach," "map of region," "crop image")
  2. If you are requesting a new image (i.e. #Articles that need images) add the template {{Reqimage}} to the article's talk page. This will let all Wikipedians (not just this WikiProject) know that an image is requested.
  3. If requesting a new image, create an entry at Wikipedia:Requested pictures.
    • For images of geographical objects (e.g. cities) this will go under the heading Places in North America.
    • You may wish to include a link back to this page, such as (also listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Florida/Images wanted)

To add a wanted image

See Wikipedia:Finding images tutorial for a discussion of finding images
See Wikipedia:Image use policy, Wikipedia:Image copyright tags, and Commons:Licensing for a discussion of licensing issues. Freely licensed images, uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons, are preferable to any alternatives.
  • Search:
    • Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Commons
    • public domain image resources
    • For freely-licensed photos via Google or Yahoo, using Creative Commons's search page, or at Flickr, openphoto, or Ourmedia
    • U.S. government sources -- most content on U.S. gov't Web sites should be in the public domain. Note that Florida gov't Web sites are not in the public domain, as states retain copyright -- ditto for counties, cities, universities, etc.
    • Elsewhere for public domain or freely-licensed photos
    • Elsewhere for photos and ask the copyright holder's permission to use it under a free license
  • Ask someone to take the photo for you -- try Photographers or the Press Corps
  • Take the photo yourself and upload it to the Wikimedia Commons under a free license

When you add an image, please tag its talk page with {{WikiProject Florida image}}.
