Random movie trivia

[edit]

I consider myself a cinemaphile, so I like to list random facts from random films.

  • In the shower scene from the movie, Psycho, chocolate syrup was used instead of fake blood. This was because chocolate syrup was more visible.
  • The titular monster (known in the film as "Ro-Man") in 1953's Robot Monster is depicted as a gorilla in a space helmet (contrary to popular belief, it's a space helmet, not a diving helmet). This is because the crew could not afford a robot costume and the actor playing Ro-Man, George Barrows, had his own gorilla suit. See the Wikipedia article on Robot Monster for a list of Barrows' gorilla suit appearances.
  • The 1936 exploitation film Reefer Madness was originally titled Tell Your Children.
  • The reason Halloween 3 has nothing to do with Halloween 1 and 2 is because director John Carpenter wanted to release a new Halloween film with a completely different storyline each year. Due to Halloween 3's poor reception, Carpenter decided to continue the series with Michael Myers as the antagonist.
  • In Raiders of the Lost Ark, there was originally a scene in which Indy has an elaborate fight with a man wielding a large sword. Because he was suffering from traveler's diarrhea, Harrison Ford wanted the scene shortened. The result was one of the most famous scenes, in which Indy simply shoots the swordsman.
  • Indiana Jones' original name was Indiana Smith.
