A dedicated member of the Secret Service for several years, Pierce was put in charge of protecting Senator/President David Palmer during his time in office.

Pierce joined the Secret Service during Ronald Reagan's second term in office and was the agent assigned to protecting Senator Palmer when his life was threatened in Day One.

In Day Two, Pierce had joined Palmer's Presidential staff but after the attempted coup by Vice-President Jim Prescott, was forced to take his boss to holding. Whilst there, Palmer explained the situation to Pierce and persuaded him to get a phone for Palmer to ring Jack Bauer on. However, this was discovered and Mike Novick had Pierce taken into custody, despite Palmer's protests.

In Day Three, Pierce was still working for the President and on several occasions tried to persuade him to leave Los Angeles, stating that Secret Service protocol superceded Presidential on matter involving Presidential safety.

In Day 4, Pierce was working for the new President, Charles Logan and informed Palmer that Mandy was the woman who had attempted to kill him over 4 years ago.

A quiet and unassuming man, Pierce had one son, who was in the Marines.
