Gilles Roussel, also known as Boulet, is a French cartoonist born February 1st 1975 in Meaux, France. He was among the first French cartoonist to become famous by publishing a comic strip weblog, starting in July 2004.
Biographie
Gilles Roussel studied art in Strasbourg's Superior School of Decorative Art (Arts décos de Strasbourg), in France. In 2001 he publishes his first comic strip, Raghnarok. He then starts a cartoon blog on internet in July 2004 [1], and this media allows him to become famous in France. Since, he worked for french comics strip magazine Tchô ! and Psikopat, and on many others as an author or cartoonist. He replaced Lewis Trondheim as cartoonist of the comic strip Donjon Zenith.
The popularity of his blog allows him to become the first "Godfather" (?) [2] of the newly created Paris Comic Strip Blog Festival (Festival des blogs BD), in 2005. The drawings of his blog were first published in 2008, entitled "Notes"[3]. Four volumes have been published so far.
He took part in the french speaking comic strip 24 hours of Montreal in 2008[4].
He opened an english version of his blog in november 2010[5], were he publish all his posts from the french blog since 2004 in chronological order, at a rate of three post per week.
