Eversharp
Eversharp was a pioneer maker of mechanical pencils for technical drawing.
History
The company was started by Charles Rood Keeran in 1913.[1] He applied for a patent to the pencil in October of 1913 and was granted the patent in March of 1915. Some of the first Eversharp pencils were produced in New York by Heath, a maker of fountain pens. These pencils were first sold in a test market during the holiday season of 1913 at Wanamaker's in New York City. In October of 1915, Keeran signed a contract with Wahl to manufacture Eversharp pencils. In August of 1917, Wahl forced Charles Keeran out of the company.[2]
