6126 Collection is a clothing line that was created by American actress, singer, and entrepreneur Lindsay Lohan in collaboration with Kristi Kaylor. The line was originally a leggings line, before being expanding to a full clothing collection. The name of the collection, 6126, was used to represent Marilyn Monroe's birthday (June 1, 1926), who Lohan has admired and been influenced by. In just two years, 6126 has gone from 200 to 500 retail outlets.
Retail
6126 Collection is housed at retail stores in the United States such as Neiman Marcus, Kitson, Planet Blue, Macy's and Bloomingdale's. The collection has also been featured in worldwide stores such as Kitson in Japan, Harrods, and Lane Crawford. The leggings line was released on July 10, 2008 at Fred Segal and for Internet order, on the website Intuition.[1]
In 2010, after debuting in 2008, it was announced that 6126 had gone from 200 retail outlets to 500 retail outlets. Kristi Kaylor has said that the brand makes around $3 million a year, but it expected to make $10 million a year when the full collection is released.[2]
Fashion
The collection includes varying sizes and designs in leggings. Each type of legging is part of a legging brand within the company. Leggings brands include Fame, Lust, and Star. Kristi Kaylor, Lohan's partner, has revealed that Lohan is very involved in the process of designing, choosing the fabrics, trims, and buttons for the leggings collection. Kaylor says, "She approves everything, down to invitations for events."[3]
The line was originally a leggings brand, but was expanded to a full clothing collection in May 2010, covering 280 pieces of clothing. The fashion line also includes mini-dresses, hoodies, and cardigans. It was revealed in April 2010 that the fashion line would include a collection of handbags, shoes, and cosmetics for the Spring 2011 edition.[4] [5]
Advertising
Lohan has partaken in numerous photo shoots and modeled to help advertise and promote the collection. Her younger sister, Ali, has also modeled to promote the collection. In April 2009, Lohan participated in a fake eHarmony video for the comedic website, Funny or Die. At the end of the video, Lohan says, "You can reach me at 6126-79," which is a combination of 6126, and Sevin Nyne, her artificial tanning lotion.
Photographer Scott Nathan revealed that he was suing Universal Music Group, Lohan's musical label, when he discovered that a photograph that he shot of Lohan was used as the cover for her single, "Bossy", without his permission. He also claimed he was suing 6126's parent company after being promised 1% interest in the clothing label for photo graphing Lohan in the leggings.[6]
