"The Candidate (Lost)"

"The Candidate" is the fourteenth episode of the American Broadcasting Company's sixth season of the serial drama television series Lost and 117th episode overall. The episode aired on May 4, 2010 on ABC in the United States.[1] The episode was written by Elizabeth Sarnoff and Jim Galasso and directed by Jack Bender.

Plot

2007 (original timeline)

Jack is charged with a difficult task by the Flocke, and must decide whether or not to trust him.

Several of the main characters including Jack, Kate, Sayid, Frank, Sun and Jin attempt to leave the Man in Black behind and escape in the submarine. They do so by closing the hatch and diving while the Man in Black is distracted on the shore.

But it turns out that all is not as it seems. Claire, who is left behind with the Man in Black attempts to run after the sub, but the Man in Black tells her, "You don't want to be on that sub."

After Sawyer ignores Jack's advice and attempts to defuse a bomb set by the Floke, Sayid grabs the bomb and runs with it, giving his life when the bomb blows an attempt to save the others. As the submarine goes down from the resulting explosion, Sun is trapped/crushed by metal bars. Jin refuses to leave her side, telling her, "I will never leave you again." A scene is shown of their hands, releasing their grip, floating in the water as the submarine sinks into the depths.

Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley arrive on the beach. Sawyer is injured, as is Kate, though she seemed magically fine by the end, something the writers should NOT have done. Kill Sun, Jin, Lapidus, AND Sayid and let her live...shame, SHAME ON YOU ALL!
