12 step treatment for excessive alcohol use was initially created in a collaboration between AA co-founder (and Oxford Group member) Dr. Bob Smith and Roman Catholic Nun Sr. Ignatia. [1]

12 step treatment has become a ten billion dollar a year indusry in the United States.

While 12 step support groups such as AA, NA, etc are free of charge, 12 step treatments are a goldmine for the rapacious.
