The Jamaican general election of 1972 was held on February 29, 1972.

The election was won by the People's National Party (PNP), who gained 21 more seats than the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). PNP leader Michael Manley became Prime Minister, succeeding former JLP Prime Minister Hugh Shearer.
