                                               Taijin Kyofusho

Taijin Kyofusho is a syndrome is closely related to Social Phobia that is listed in the DSM-IV. Taijin Kyofusho is a culture-bound syndrome that is mainly observed and diagnosed in Japan. The Japanese DSM-IV includes Taijin Kyofusho as a legitimate mental disorder. This particular syndrome causes the individual to fear that his or her body or appearance could irritate individuals around them. Extreme fear that his or her body functions or body parts could be distressing and discomforting to individuals that one comes into contact with, are possible indicators in diagnosing Taijin Kyofusho. Symptoms that might indicate Taijin Kyofusho Syndrome can also include fear of facial expression, movements, appearance, or unpleasant body odors.
