Bunkot is a village development committee in Gorkha District in the Gandaki Zone of northern-central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 6,599, and there were 1,214 houses in the town.[1]

Bungkot is just about 6 kilometers from district headquarter.The only Higher Secondary School of Bunkot is Shree Shaheed Smrity Higher Secondary School,Bungkot-3,Gorkha.There is one secondary School and one Lower Secondary School.There are 11 Primary Schools and a private boarding School.The name of Shaheed Smrity Higher Secondary School is named to show due respect on first martyr LAKHAN THAPA who first died for the sake of people and the nation.
