ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. (also known as Star Cinema), is the wholly-owned, film production subsidiary of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation. It is the Philippines' largest film production {{citation}}: Empty citation (help), producing some of the highest grossing films in the Philippines.

  • Star Cinema produced the highest grossing Filipino movie of all time- You Changed My Life, venture with Viva Films.[citation needed]
  • On May 13, 1993 Star Cinema presents its first movie, Adan Ronquillo, which went on to break box office records with its total theatrical earnings of P58.2 million. This also marked ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. foray into the movie business, its first step towards becoming an integrated media and entertainment company.[2]
  • 1994, Star Cinema acquired its own and the industry’s first, Arri 535B movie camera – a camera that captures live sound. Subsequently, Star Cinema produces Eskapo its first movie entirely shot in live sound.[2]
  • Star Cinema makes the tactical move to release Eskapo on a simultaneous nationwide scale – the first and only local distributor to do so until now.[2]
  • Flames, The Movie becomes the first full synergy movie of Star Cinema. In partnership with its mother company and its affiliates, the project crosses over several media platforms such as music recording (the release of an original movie soundtrack through Star Records, Inc.), product licensing & merchandising (through Star Magic, Inc.), and television (through the launch of ABS-CBN talents and adaptation of a popular TV show).[2]
  • Star Cinema ventured into line producing television soap operas for its mother company, starting with Sa Sandaling Kailangang Mo Ako. Following the success of this venture, Star Cinema produces Pangako sa ’Yo, the highest rating soap opera in Philippine television.[2]
  • Madrasta, a family drama, becomes the first Filipino film to be acquired and aired in Cinemax, an international cable movie channel. It is then followed by other Star Cinema films – Ang Lalaki sa Buhay ni Selya in 1999, Bata, Bata... Paano Ka Ginawa? in 2000, and Anak in 2001.[2]
  • Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko, starring Fernando Poe, Jr., the country’s legendary action star,and Young Superstar Judy Ann Santos, becomes the first movie in local history to have reached and exceeded the P100 million mark in the box office.[2]
  • 2000, With the release of three blockbuster films, one after the other, including the critically-acclaimed Anak, Star Cinema cements its hold as the #1 production company in the local film industry, with a reputation for its technically-superior and trend-setting movies.[citation needed]
  • The phenomenal hit Ang Tanging Ina, a comedy feature, became one of the highest grossing Filipino comedy film to date with a gross of P178 million nationwide from its theatrical run.[citation needed]
  • The year 2006 ended with 5 Star Cinema films grossing more than Php 100M such as Don't Give Up on Us, Close to You, All About Love, You Are the One and Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo. It was in the same year that Sukob, broke box-office records for being one of the Highest grossing Filipino film of All Time reaching 186 Million total theatrical earnings.[citation needed]
  • Four out of the top five films produced by Star Cinema dominated the lists of Blockbuster Films of 2008 given by SM and Robinsons. These are: A Very Special Love, For the First Time, Caregiver, and Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat.[citation needed]
  • According to the Box Office Mojo website, You Changed My Life, a sequel to A Very Special Love, grossed over $4.7 million and was hailed as the Highest Top-Grossing Filipino Movie of All Time as of May 2010.[3]
