Engineers Australia is a professional body (and not-for-profit organization) dedicated to being the national forum for the advancement of the engineering feild within Australia. It has over 79,000 members coming from all engineering feilds (27,000 of whom are students).

It was concieved in a period of rapid industrialization the late 19th century, following the recognition of the need for a cohesive body to represent engineers, rather than the numerous bodies that existed then. Engineers Australia's first Council meeting was held in 1919 and William Henry Warren of the University of Sydney was elected President for the year 1920. The 84th national leader, National President Prof. Andrew Downing held office from November 2004 to November 2005.
