Christopher Nelson Moy, born August 23, 1992 in The Bronx, New York, is a singer and a former member of the teen group Menudo. After a nation wide search for Menudo members and a reality MTV program titled Making Menudo that aired from October 2007 to November 2007.
Chris is Puerto Rican, Venezuelan and of Chinese decent. His performances reflect his love for R&B music. His participation in Menudo affords the band the talents of a native New Yorker. Chris Moy attended High School at Arlington High School prior to coming onto the show, in his 10th grade year.
Chris is now part of a new boyband called One Call, with Jose from Menudo; Justin Thorne from NLT; and AG (Anthony Gamlieli)
Chris’ full name is Christopher Nelson Moy, was a member of the former boyband Menudo which also included Carlos Olivero, Emmanuel Vélez Pagán, José Bordonada Collazo, and Monti Montañez. Chris has a Puerto Rican mom and a Venezuelan/Chinese father. He’s from the Bronx, New York, though he now lives in Dutchess County, NY. “We all have our own styles,” he says, “and my style is R&B.” Like the others, he was a talent-show star: “I started singing around the age of six. I just did it as a hobby up until about seventh grade, where I did my first talent show, then I started to love performing, so I did more talent shows and more talent shows. Eventually my aunt came to me and told me about the auditions for Menudo.” Viewers watched his skills grow under the training they received. “Honestly, before the competition,” he says, “I never danced before. So the whole dancing and choreography thing was a learning experience.” His vocal powers grew steadily under David Coury’s intense, at times intimidating tutelage, while a TV audience watched: “Our ranges have increased, like, amazingly,” he says. “I can hit low notes that I have never been able to hit before.”
Menudo seperated, all doing their own things, while Chris and Jose joined former NLT band member JJ, also known as Justin, and newcomer AG in a super group former by Johnny Wright called One Call. "It’s funny how one call can change your whole life.” remarked Chris. The group tour with Britney Spears and opened up for her.
