I don't think Jake Burton claims to be the inventor of the snowboard. --Randolph 09:58, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Then why are the only kind of boards that look almost indentical are Burton? The Republican 02:06, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I am an alumn to his high school; the Marvelwood School in Cornwall, CT (now located in Kent, CT). I am fairly certain that not only did Jake design the snowboard as we now know it, but the information in the article about WHERE he devolped his idea is false as well. Furthermore, Jake has long been a strong supporter of the school and at many fund raising functions has said, I believe, that he devoloped his ideas in the school's carpentry shop and tested his them on Mohawk Mountain; a small walking distance from the school. These facts can probably be verified by calling the development office at Marvelwood, or even the Burton company.

By the way, Marvelwood is a particularly unusual school. there should be a page here...
