SR 536, named World Center Drive for most of its length, is an east-west road that extends from Interstate 4 near the Epcot theme park to The Central Florida GreeneWay.
Route description
The brief State Road begins at Interstate 4 just east of the Epcot theme park section of Disney World. It heads east, passing by two resort hotels and a golf course before intersecting with SR 535. Just east of the interchange, it passes by two more resorts on the north side and a gas station. East of the second resort, the road goes through undeveloped land for the rest of its eastern journey expect for a gas station at the southern end of the International Drive intersection. East of International Drive, the eastbound lanes head straight towards an interchange with northbound SR 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay), with the westbound lanes coming from a southbound exit of the Greeneway.
West of Interstate 4, Epcot Center Drive, a public road (maintained by the Reedy Creek Improvement District) in the Walt Disney World Resort, heads straight for the park.
History
SR 536 was built in the early 1980s to serve the new Epcot theme park, opened October 1, 1982. After the road was finished, all the land for it that had formerly been part of the Walt Disney World Resort was de-annexed from the City of Lake Buena Vista and the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
