Fadrique II de Toledo Osorio y Mendoza, Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo y Mendoza (Naples, Italy, 30 May May 1580 - Madrid,Spain, 11 December 1634) 1st Marquis of Villanueva de Valdueza since 17 January 1634. He was a Knight of the Order of Santiago, a Spanish Admiral, and Captain General of the Spanish Navy at the age of 37. Credited between other feats[clarification needed] with the removal of the Dutch occupied Brazilian city of Salvador de Bahia.[citation needed] Since 1580 till 1640 Imperial Portugal and Imperial Spain were ruled by Spanish Habsburg Dynasty Kings, namely, in Fadrique II adult lifetime, by Kings Philip III of Spain, Philip II of Portugal, and Philip IV of Spain, Philip III of Portugal.

The joint Spanish-Portuguese Fleet he commanded was constituted by 26 ships with 450 guns and 3500 soldiers.

He married, aged 47, on 12 August 1627 Elvira Ponce de León, a daughter of Luis Ponce de León, VI Marquis of Zahara, and Victoria Álvarez de Toledo. Issue:
- Doña Elvira de Toledo, married Juan Gaspar Enríquez de Cabrera, VI Duke of Medina de Rioseco.
- Victoria de Toledo, who married her cousin Francisco Ponce de León, V Duke of Arcos, (1632–1673).
- Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo y Ponce de León, VII Marquis of Villafranca del Bierzo, a Grandee of Spain. By succession to his uncle, Garcia, VI Marquis, no issue, the brother of his father Admiral, Captain General of the Spanish Navy, Don Fadrique II.
Illegitimate children:
- Pedro Álvarez de Toledo, Abbey of the Royal Monastery of Alcalá la Real, Jaén.
- Íñigo de Toledo, who married Leonor de Velasco, XI Countess of Siruela.
