Washim, earlier spelt as Basum[May be itwas britishers way of pronouncing it ], is the seat of administration of Washim District, in Maharashtra, India.

Washim is a newly formed district of Maharashtra ,it is result of constant efforts from shri shiv senaleader Pundlik Gowli & local residents . It includes tehsils Risod,Malegaon,Mangrulpir,Karanja and the tribal Manora.--[[User: ]] 13:18, 27 January 2006 (UTC)sachin dixit

Washim which was also known as Vatsagulma was the seat of power during Vakataka dynasty.
