BB (BeBe) Gandanghari (often spelled as Bebe Gandanghari / Bb. Gandanghari) (born Rustom Cariño-Padilla on May 15, 1965) is a transgendered Filipino actress, commercial model and the older sibling of actors Rommel and Robin Padilla and younger sibling of Royette Padilla. Soon after coming out as transgendered (male-to-female)[1] and after returning from the United States, Padilla changed her name to BeBe/Bb. Gandanghari[2].

Background

As Rustom Padilla, he hosted a franchised version of Wheel of Fortune on ABC 5. After his hosting stint, Rustom left the Philippines and studied filmmaking in the US.

He was one of the 14 housemates in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition. On March 2, 2006 he came out of the closet on the show by telling fellow housemate Keanna Reeves that he is gay[3] On day 45 of the competition, Rustom opted to voluntarily leave the house.

Padilla appeared in the film version of the comic book Zsazsa Zaturnnah as the gay salon owner Ada (Adrian), alter ego of Zsazsa Zaturnnah, in TV series La Vendetta via GMA 7 and movie Happy Hearts. He was also a cast of ABS-CBN's Eva Fonda.

In January 2009, Padilla stated that she is a transsexual and is now undergoing a transition to become a woman following the footsteps of Joseph Azucena, one of the long-standing respectable she-mans in the Philippines.[4]

In 2009, Gandanghari hosted the National Kidlat Awards in Boracay, Philippines. She appeared again in SRO Cinema Serye: Rowena Joy.
