The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Samaira, on 11 March 2005. Before the birth of their child, it was widely speculated that she would be divorcing Sanjay Kapur. Sanjay sued to ensure Karisma could not talk Samaira out of the country, which would make it hard for her to film movies. However, the couple reconciled before their 2nd year anniversary. Sister Kareena blamed the media for exacerbating her sister's marital problems. It should be remembered that the media published an e-mail Sanjay wrote and followed the case very closely. Too closely according to Kareena.
