Song |
"All About Us" is the first single by Russian band t.A.T.u. to be released from their album Dangerous and Moving.
Release Information
The song was released in Japan on September 1, and mid-September everywhere else.
Music Video
The shooting for the music video took place in Los Angeles, produced by film director James Cox. A note about the video is that there are two versions, one censored and the other uncut. The former was released on tatugirls.com, the English website for t.A.T.u. on August 18. The uncut version has leaked out on the Internet, but will likely not get any airplay on American television. The video release is expected to coincide with the release of the single.
Summary
This summary is written using the uncensored version.
The two go into a restaurant to try to settle their differences. However, something goes wrong as Julia storms off and begins to walk down the street. Lena looks absolutely torn as she drives off. While walking down the road, looking like a prostitute, she gets picked up by a man. Julia eventually gets to his house, where they start to get passionate. However, it quickly turns into attempted rape, as the man begins to force Julia into it. Julia breaks free, flips the man off and calls Lena. However, the man begins to physically assault Julia, pushing her through the glass top of a coffee table. She is able to break free, once again, with enough time to locate bullets and a gun in a case.
When he turns around to attack Julia again, she shoots him dead. Afterwards, she climbs out the window and down the fire escape, just in time to meet up with Lena and realize that it will always be about them.
Reaction and Editing
The censored version of the music video has been heavily edited for viewing on television. Omitted are Julia giving the man the finger, her being thrown into the glass, the finding of the bullets and the finale, the gunshot. Fans are outraged by the heavy censorship put on the video, and are complaining about other videos that deserve heavy editing but never got it. In a way, the video makes it seem like Julia shot the man for no reason.
