The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. For questions or suggestions one can use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps.
This specific page is the requests page for the photography workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved for a Wikipedia article. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Advice to requesters

All requests:

  • Please make sure your request is "legitimate" by copyright. If the image(s) are in the public domain or freely licensed, you are fine. If the image(s) are "Fair use", there are only certain things we can do with them without falling afoul of Wikipedia's fair-use policies.
    • If you are requesting assistance with a copyright or fair-use image, don't display it on this page; place {{GLNF|Example.png|caption|align=left}} to create a link to it. Do not add the File: extension. Our fair-use policy does not allow displaying fair-use images out of their articles on ANY account.
  • Please check back regularly to see if progress has been made or if any additional questions need to be answered before the request can be completed.
  • If a request is done to your satisfaction, please mark it with {{resolved}}.

SVG requests:

  • Make sure your request can actually BE vectorized. Note that vector drawings are not suitable for certain applications. We generally use SVG format for icons, logos, drawings, maps, flags, and such. Certain things, photographs especially, are totally impossible to vectorize.
  • Per our non-free content policy, vectorization of copyrighted images is not permitted. If a vectorized non-free image is desired, seek out such an image from the copyright holder.

Request: remove Moiré pattern. Jonyungk (talk) 19:11, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): Image's request under progression Request taken by Finemann.:  Done the first two.Finemann (talk) 07:19, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. Everything looks great so far, and am looking forward to seeing how the third image comes out. Jonyungk (talk) 21:53, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I gave a shot at editing the first two images. I think they came out less blurry and bloomy. In the "young" image I also fixed some scratches and tears. I reduced the Moiré patterns in the third image somewhat, but not entirely (the image is in Commons with the same name).
By the way, presuming you scanned these 3 images by yourself, could you perhaps re-scan them (if necessary) and upload them in higher resolution? That way the Moiré patterns would have shorter wavelengths and would be much easier to remove. —Quibik (talk) 19:38, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I don't have access to a scanner. The images were taken from Google books, though I also have a copy of Brother Musicians as a reference for the article. What you've done looks great, though. Thanks very muuch for your help—you really went above and beyond the call. Jonyungk (talk) 00:03, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remove the effect of joints in the pan

Graphist opinion(s):

Re-creating the panorama from scratch will be much easier than editing an existing one. Could you perhaps upload the ingredient images separately to Commons or any file hosting site? —Quibik (talk) 00:27, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, my computer and conection are very slow, I'm sorry . Sure, I find help :) --Wilfredor (talk) 15:03, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

—Preceding unsigned comment added by Wilfredor (talkcontribs) 17:35, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uhm... thanks, but aren't these just crops of the unmodified panorama image? What I meant by "ingredient images" would be the unedited original images directly from a camera. Don't you have access to these anymore? —Quibik (talk) 21:00, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I have only that -->

Pennsylvania Desert and Mily Balakirev

Article(s): The Pennsylvania Desert image is used in two FAs: Leonard Harrison State Park and Quehanna Wild Area, and the Balakirev image is used in the FAs Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Tchaikovsky and The Five

Request: Could both be cleaned up, the moire pattern is especially bad in the Balakirev image - it looks like he fell asleep on a waffle iron. Thanks in advance for any help, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:59, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
