The second ShoMMA event took place on June 19, 2009 at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington.[5] The event was sanctioned by the Washington State Athletic Commission which, as opposed to other athletic commissions, didn't use one-pound allowances during the weigh-ins. In response, Strikeforce made contracts which automatically defaulted into catchweights to allow fighters the extra pound.[6]
