Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola was introduced in 1983, as a caffeine-free variant of Coca-Cola. It was introduced to compete against Pepsi Free (now Caffeine-Free Pepsi).

The diet variant, Caffeine-Free Diet Coke was the first variant of Diet Coke, introduced in 1983, one year before the regular Coke version.

In April 1985 Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola was switched to the ill-fated New Coke formula and did not switch to back to the Coca-Cola Classic formula until 1990.

Like Sprite, no caffeine is included in either variant.
