Mobilicity (formerly Data & Audio Visual Enterprises Wireless or DAVE Wireless) is a Canadian wireless telecommunications provider. Its name combines the words "mobility" and "simplicity".[1]
History
Mobilicity began offering service to the public on May 15, 2010. At the time of launch only the Toronto area was covered.
Network coverage
Mobilicity launched with service in the Toronto area. They have announced plans to launch service in Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver later in 2010. There are no plans to launch in Montreal because Mobilicity does not have spectrum in Quebec. [2]
Technology
Mobilicity uses the AWS frequency bands (1700/2100 MHz) to provide UMTS (with HSPA) service.[3] This is the same frequency as Wind Mobile in Canada and T-Mobile USA. Like WIND, they do not have a GSM network.
Unlike Wind, Mobilicity was able to arrange a tower sharing agreement with one of the incumbent carriers.[citation needed]

The handsets that are currently offered for sale by Mobilicity can be viewed on their website.[4]
Roaming in North America
Mobilicity provides roaming within Canada on the Rogers 2G GSM network. They have not yet announced their plans for U.S. in International roaming, but it is certain that their roaming partner in the U.S. will be T-Mobile.
