Long Term Disruption and Vandalism

This is a central place to track long-term disruption and vandalism to fauna articles, especially bird articles. Some of the users are repeat vandals, some are long-term disruptors who have never responded to frequent messages asking for their cooperation, some of the IUCN changers should be shown good faith.

Megafauna Man

Adds megafauna related categories to many non-mega fauna (and occasionally gets one right); also adds redlinked categories ranging from "megafauna of country x" to "mammals of country x" to "extinct mammals of country x" to "Even-toed ungulates of Europe", etc. Has been asked frequently to cooperate with various projects before making up new categories that don't have any support by the project. Has never replied to messages.

Almost always edits from 125.164/16 range, with a new address every day. An edit filter has been added as of 04/10 to block category changes by this IP range. The following IPs are just a tiny sample.

Samples going all the way back to 2006

Diet Of Frogs And Rodents

Adds various critters to the diet of birds, without references. Long-term disruption to many bird pages. Example: "It eats insects, crabs, spiders, eggs, chicks and small lizards" (note the stylistic pattern with commas and spaces). Also likes to change measurements of birds, not enough to make an outside observer think "vandalism", and occasionally notes that 'bird x is the biggest (or second biggest) bird in y species'. Has been warned, blocked under several accounts, now sockpuppeting.

Nationalist vandalism

Specialities include edits "India -> Republic of India" (so that it goes back in the alphabetic list of countries). Also prefers to rename Israel to "State of Israel" and recognizes Kashmir as a country. They also add "Palestine" to the distribution of random bird articles, along with the random addition of categories "Birds of Palestine", "Birds of Pakistan", and "Birds of India". Editor will never discuss!

IUCN

Sporadic, incorrectly changes IUCN status of birds w/out reason or cause. Probably a few different people, though some of the IPs and one of the registered users seem to be similar.
