Kim Geybels (born 29 October 1981 in Herk-de-Stad) is a Belgian politician and is affiliated to the N-VA. She was elected as a member of the Belgian Senate in 2010[1] and is a former chairman of the youth wing of the N-VA.[2] On August 31, 2010 she resigned on personal grounds (as asked by the NV-A[2] ) as senator and as chairman of the youth wing of the N-VA.[3][2] After her resignation Geybels stated (on 1 September 2010) she and a travel companion had been blackmailed by local drug maffia during a trip to Thailand.[4] She stated she remained a member of the N-VA, but did not comment on her political future.[2] The NV-A also found it unacceptable she had hired her travel companion to Thailand as a personal assistant in the Senate as he was not screened by the party (he was also previously fired by the NV-A as a assistant of Speaker of the Flemish Parliament Jan Peumans).[2]
Geybels was succeeded as senator by Piet De Bruyn.[3]
