The Chattahoochee Valley Railway was a shortline railroad linking a number of textile mills between West Point, Georgia and McGinty, Alabama for a total distance of 9.5 miles (15.3 km).

History

The West Point Manufacturing Company began operating the Chattahoochee Valley Railway in 1897 to serve cotton mills along the Chattahoochee River, initially between West Point, GA and Riverview, AL then extended shortly afterward to Jester, AL. In 1908, it was extended to Standing Rock, AL to connect with the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad, and in 1916 a connection was made to Bleecker, AL and the Central of Georgia Railroad.[1]

The railroad began shedding some lines in 1974 and eventually shut down completely in 1992.[2]
