Simply Energy is one of Australia's largest energy retailers, providing electricity and gas to more than 300,000 accounts across Victoria, Australia and South Australia. It is the retail arm of International Power plc, which fully owns Simply Energy and provides an additional route for International Power to sell electricity from its power plants and bring further competition to the Australian retail energy market.

Simply Energy supplies 12% of Australia's national energy market. It sells to residential homes, small and medium businesses and the commercial and industrial sectors.

History

International Power plc entered the Australian retail electricity market in partnership with EnergyAustralia in 2005. In August 2007, International Power Australia completed a buy out of EnergyAustralia interests in Victoria and South Australia. Subsequently, International Power launched the retail brand called Simply Energy in those three states.
