Michael Collie is a British television journalist who currently presents for the BBC in the West Midlands.[1]. He currently is the joint main presenter of the regional opt-out on the weekly politics programme, the Politics Show, in addition to the weekend editions of BBC Midlands Today, alternating every other week with Sarah Falkland.

BBC

He began his television career on BBC WM as the early morning newsreader in 1986. He has also appeared on radio, presenting "You and Yours" on BBC Radio 4. He joined "Countryfile" in 1989 and two years later he became a presenter on "Top Gear".

BBC Midlands Today

Michael joined the team at Midlands Today and BBC Birmingham in 1995 after being away from the second city. Michael is the main relief male news presenter on Midlands Today. When main news presenter Nick Owen is absent Michael will take his place (traditionally). Michael's relief co-presenter is Sarah Falkland.

BBC West Midlands Politics show

Michael is the main co-presenter of the Politics Show in the West Midlands. He presents the programme every other week, Sarah Falkland presents it the week after and before Michael.

Personal life

He went to school in Sheffield in Yorkshire. He lives near Pershore, Worcestershire, with his wife and four daughters. He studied Arts and Theatre at the University of Birmingham in the early 1980s.
