The French space program includes all civil space activities or French military.

The French space program really took birth in 1961 when the General de Gaulle decides to launch the construction of the Diamant rocket while creating the Centre National d' Etudes Spatiales (CNES ) to coordinate the French space activities . But the French space program inherits then a body of work started at the end of World War II .
